Does Size of Your Narrowboat Matter?

So why do people ask for details of narrowboat or widebeams no longer than 57ft?

There is a belief that 57ft is the maximum length narrowboat that can travel the whole of the inland waterways.

Is this correct?

No, some people get hung up about boat length, but there is really no need to.  There are only two canals on the Inland waterways system*; the Calder and Hebble and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal  where the maximum length is 60ft and 62ft respectivley.  So unless you are thinking of travelling every single mile of the canal system then you could take advantage of the extra space that a 57ft plus boat could offer.  Take a look at a few 57ft plus boats that we have for sale.
