During the winter British Waterways close various canals, tow paths and waterways
in order to carry out maintenence and repair work.  The website Waterscape.com has
regularly updated listing of these stoppages.  There are also listings of temporary
restrictions (when navigations remain open with restrictions in place), towpath closures
