Celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Jubilee narrowboat style!
Fast approaching is the Queen’s 70th year on the throne. On the 6th February 2022 Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom. To celebrate this the members of the UK has been given a four-day bank holiday weekend 2nd June -5th June.
The special extended bank holiday weekend will provide an opportunity for communities and people throughout the UK to come together to celebrate this historic milestone. Whether you’re celebrating the bank holiday weekend with your family or community there will be multiple events all over the country.
On Thursday the second of June the day of the Trooping the Colour, more than 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians will come together in the traditional Parade to mark The Queen’s official birthday, usually held on the second Saturday in June.
Sunday 5th June over 60k have registered to host Big Jubilee Lunches along with an additional ten million people who will be joining in with the celebrations. Garden Party’s, Village Fetes, and an attempt to break the world record for the longest street party.
Most importantly to the boating community Crick Boat Show will be taking place over the four-day bank holiday weekend. A weekend packed full of exhibitors, seminars, music entertainment and masterclasses. To celebrate the jubilee weekend and over 50 years of Whilton Marina, we have decided to have a new stand and position at the boat show. Our new stand will be located in the Quayside, position number Q4. This is very exciting for both Venetian and Whilton Marina, be sure to expect brand new graphics along with our boats for sale. Two members from our sales team will be working at the show to answer any questions you may have so be sure to pop down this coming bank holiday and say hello. You can buy tickets in advance at 15% off ending today (23/05/2022) after this date you can book your tickets online at the full price of £18.00 per adult. There are tickets available for the whole weekend at £40pp, there is also camping available on site.

- Live music from Shaders Trio Thursday 2nd June 6pm-8pm – The Red Lion Hellidon
- Daventry Museum - The Museum are holding a commemorative Jubilee display during June.

In addition to all these events you can join in with the celebrations by decorating your boat and/or your mooring, your street or your house. As you take a walk along the canal or in your local village you will see many people have taken pride in decorating their home.
